Tutorial Four: Video Production Session

Our short film looks at occupational disruption. Christiansen and Townsend (2010) tell us that occupational disruption occurs when there is a restriction from participating in necessary or meaningful occupations due to an illlness, temporary relocation or short term unemployment. This is the case with Granny on the movie, as she has an accident and sustains injuries resulting in occupational disruption, as she is temporarily unable to get out on her farm and drive her tractor.
The short film is made by students Caroline, Jess, Lisa, Mary and Amy using a video camera and childrens toys. Luckily the weather was nice to allow filming outside.
To make the film, a storyboard was designed with ideas and angles for the shots we wanted to take. This helped streamline the film and reduced filming unnessary clips.
The footage was then fine-tuned/edited at the Polytechnic using an Apple movie making programme. Music was added from the Soweto String Quartet and captions added to the film to help explain the story.
